Governor Dalrymple Predicts Score … Again

About a year ago, North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple was interviewed live by Fox Sports North Host Marney Gellner pre-game to a University of North Dakota vs. U of Minnesota men’s hockey game.  At the end of that interview, Marney asked the Governor if he wanted to predict the score of the game.  To which he offered: North Dakota, 4, Minnesota, 1.  He was right!  Two-plus hours later that’s what the score ended up.

Fast forward one year to last Friday night.  Marney Gellner and Governor Dalrymple were back at the FSN pre-game desk in Grand Forks’ Ralph Engelstad Arena.  Marney recalled the Governor’s accurate prediction and asked him for another.  This time he did a bit of a Carnac impression and guessed: North Dakota, 2, Minnesota, 1. Once again – the Gov was right on.  No word yet on if the Governor’s office is receiving requests for lottery numbers and other predictions but I do think I see a standing pre-game question from FSN in the future.

Take me out to the ball game!

The North Dakota Tourism staff - it was Halloween, but even then we were excited for baseball season. Go RedHawks!

We’ve got a little baseball fever here in the North Dakota Tourism office.  We’re following the 50th anniversary of Roger Maris’ legendary 1961 season, tomorrow the F-M RedHawks start their regular season and on Friday evening, an interview with North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple will air during the Minnesota Twins pre-game show on Fox Sports North.

By the way, the Governor is being interviewed by that awesome host Marney Gellner who is also a North Dakotan!  And you’ll want to tune into the pre-game because we’re giving away four tickets to a RedHawks game of your choice and Governor Dalrymple will tell you how to enter.  The Twins Live Pregame show starts at 6:30 p.m. (CST), May 13 on FSN.

The RedHawks start their season on the road, but next week (May 16, 17 and 18) will be home to host the St. Paul Saints for the first time in six years!  These two teams had multiple championships in the Northern League of Independent Professional Baseball and it will be a classic rivalry as they compete in the American Association.

Oh! And while you’re enjoying baseball this summer be sure to grab a bag of Giant Sunflower Seeds, they’re produced here in North Dakota too!

Marney’s Top 10 Legendary experiences

If you follow sports in Minnesota, you’re probably familiar with Fox Sports North host Marney Gellner.  Last month, Marney was back in her home state of North Dakota covering the University of North Dakota vs. University of Minnesota men’s hockey series in Grand Forks.  In preparation for the big weekend, Marney prepared two segments featuring her favorite 10 places or experiences in North Dakota.

If you missed it when it aired, you can still see Marney’s favs.  Here’s countdown 10-to-6 and countdown 5-to-1.

Marney also did pre-game interviews with North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple and fishing personality Jason Mitchell, of the FSN aired Jason Mitchell Outdoors program.  Especially fun is when Governor Dalrymple accurately predicts the game’s final score (and North Dakota’s win)!

Marney Gellner is legendary – RU?

A new Governor for North Dakota

North Dakota has a new governor today.  Congratulations to Governor Jack Dalrymple, who took the oath of office as North Dakota’s 32nd governor.  Dalrymple suceeds John Hoeven, who resigned as Governor to serve North Dakota in the U.S Senate.  Drew Wrigley was also appointed as Lt. Governor today.

Governor Dalrymple will present his first executive budget on December 8.  He hails from Casselton and graduated with honors from Yale University.  He and First Lady Betsy Dalrymple have four daughters.
