Cold War Missile Sites – Opening July 13

09 Jul

Two of the places that I can hardly wait to visit this summer are the NEW Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Sites.  These sites open July 13 and tell the story of the Cold War years in North Dakota – and they have really cool (James Bond-movie-ish) names.

Oscar-Zero (four miles north of Cooperstown on Highway 45) was a missle alert facility with topside tour and underground tour to the Launch Control Center.

November-33 (two miles east of Cooperstown on Highway 200) was a nuclear missile launch facility.

I don’t think I’m actually going to get to visit until July 24 – so I’ll be anxious to hear what everyone else thinks.  The official grand opening event is July 31 and August 1.
