One of the most regal and inspiring celebrations of American Indian culture starts Thursday in Bismarck. The United Tribes International Powwow, held on the campus of United Tribes Technical College, is celebrating it’s 40th year. This is one of the premier cultural events of North Dakota, representing more than 70 tribes and 1,500 dancers and drummers, and drawing more than 20,000 spectators. The Miss Indian Nations pageant is also held in conjunction.
On Saturday, September 12 at 10 a.m., the Parade of Champions will start and parade spectators will not be charged admission between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on parade day when entering the campus main entrance gate at 3315 University Drive.
