Pirogue Grille Wins!

03 Aug

Bismarck’s very own, Pirogue Grille was named the top place to eat in the Rocky Mountain region, which includes Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. Think Tasty ran an open vote for their readers to choose the best restaurant from the selected restaurants, and Pirogue came out on top!

Pirogue Grille specializes in Midwest prairie cuisine, using local fruits, vegetables and meats. Featured items include locally raised bison, lamb and beef, and house-made venison sausage. Homemade chokecherry chocolate ice cream and Rhubartinis are two examples of popular, house-made seasonal specialties. The ambiance has a metropolitan feel featuring exposed brick walls, high ceilings and a rich walnut bar. A graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America and Walt Disney World’s Culinary Management Program, chef proprietor Stuart Tracy previously was Chef de Cuisine at the Fairmount Sonoma Mission Inn in Sonoma, California, and Executive Chef at The Rivery.

Chef Stuart Tracy, who is originally from Minot, ND and his wife Cheryl opened Pirogue Grille: A Midwest Regional Restaurant in September 2005. Located in downtown Bismarck, Pirogue Grille’s ambiance is reminiscent of a large metropolitan area with its long narrow space featuring exposed brick walls, high ceilings, rich walnut bar and warm inviting colors. It is establishing itself as a local favorite and a destination dining spot for travelers and theatre goers. Pirogue Grille offers a full bar and wine service to compliment each evenings dining experience.

So, if you are coming to the Bismarck area, don’t forget to treat yourself to this lovely experience at everyone’s favorite choice, Pirogue Grille!

I haven’t had a Pirogue in years! Used to eat homemade ones at my good frineds house on the holidays. They were so good. I would have no idea where to get them now.
